Creamy dip recipe with a hint of lime and the smoky flavor of chipotle peppers. Chipotle Mayonnaise Dip makes an easy appetizer for your summer cookouts. It is always one of my go to dips during the warm weather months.
Chipotle Mayonnaise Dip
I love spicy food! I definitely did not get this trait from my family as I’m the only one that does. Thankfully, my husband shares a similar taste in spice, but we do have to be careful when we have people over for dinner that we don’t make things too spicy 🙂
The great thing about this recipe is that you can tailor the heat level to the audience that you’re making it for. Add in another chipotle pepper for more spice or take one out for a milder version.

Chipotle Mayonnaise Dip also makes a wonderful condiment and is fabulous on hamburgers. My husband and I were grilling out on the beach a few years ago with some friends. We went to grab the ketchup for our burgers, but realized that we had totally forgotten to pack any condiments.
Thankfully, it was this Chipotle Dip to the rescue as we had some left over from our earlier snack. It was so good on the burgers that I now routinely add it to my burgers. I love when mistakes turn into great creations 🙂
How to make Chipotle Mayonnaise Dip
This dip is so easy to make. Simply slice and seed some the chipotle peppers. Use gloves during this step if you have sensitive skin and be sure to wash your hands well after handling the peppers.
Then just toss all the ingredients into a food processor and grind until mixture is smooth.
Tips for making Chipotle Mayo Dip
Can you make Chipotle Mayo Dip ahead of time?
Absolutely! This dip is better the longer it sits. It should last in the fridge for up to a week.
Is Chipotle Mayo Dip spicy?
This dip has a kick, but as long as you seed the peppers and only add a couple, I don’t think it’s super spicy. You could always only use one pepper or add more for additional heat.
Where do I find Chipotle peppers?
You can find chipotle peppers in a can in most grocery stores on the Mexican food aisle.
Is their a healthy Chipotle Mayo Dip option?
You could sub the mayo in the chipotle dip with Greek yogurt for a healthier option.
What to serve with Chipotle Dip
My favorite thing to serve with this dip are lime tortilla chips. I think the citrus flavor of the chips is such a great compliment to the spicy and smoky flavor of the chipotle peppers.
Veggies would be great as well and of course healthier. Crackers and pretzels also make great dippers.
Serve as a condiment on hamburgers, hotdogs or sausages.
You could also serve this as a chipolte dipping sauce with fries, shrimp or chicken.
