Tips and Tricks
- Herb substitution:
So funny story….I had every intention of using parsley for this recipe. But I accidentally grabbed the bunch of cilantro out of my fridge and didn’t realize it until I had chopped it up and added it to the dip. Ya know what though….It turned out great and I really like it with the cilantro so that’s how I kept this recipe.
However, if you are not a cilantro fan, feel free to substitute parsley.
- Preparing the garlic:
There are a few different ways to mince garlic including mincing with a knife, using a grater or a garlic press. Use whichever way you prefer. A grater or garlic press will produce a stronger garlic flavor than mincing with a knife so keep that in mind.
- Make a day ahead if you can. The flavor of the garlic gets stronger as the dip sits.
Yes, fresh garlic for this dip is a must since it really is the star of the recipe. Garlic powder just won’t give you the same punch of garlic flavor. You can adjust the amount of garlic to your liking.
This dip should keep well in a covered container for up to 3 days in the refrigerator.
