We go through a lot of garlic in this house. I’m one of those people who typically adds 3-4 garlic cloves at least to a recipe that calls for 1 clove. So this dip is right up my alley.

If you need another dip for the folks who don’t love garlic as much, check out these ideas that you can serve as an alternative.

Step 1: Mix together cream cheese, sour cream and heavy cream

Tips and Tricks

Herb substitution:

So funny story….I had every intention of using parsley for this recipe. But I accidentally grabbed the bunch of cilantro out of my fridge and didn’t realize it until I had chopped it up and added it to the dip.

Ya know what though….It turned out great and I really like it with the cilantro so that’s how I kept this recipe.

However, if you are not a cilantro fan, feel free to substitute parsley.

Preparing the garlic:

There are a few different ways to mince garlic including mincing with a knife, using a grater or a garlic press. Use whichever way you prefer. A grater or garlic press will produce a stronger garlic flavor than mincing with a knife so keep that in mind.

Make ahead:

The flavor of the garlic gets stronger as the dip sits. I like it better after it’s been in the fridge a few hours to overnight.

Recipe FAQs

Do I need to use fresh garlic?

Yes, fresh garlic for this dip is a must since it really is the star of the recipe. Garlic powder just won’t give you the same punch of garlic flavor. You can adjust the amount of garlic to your liking.

How long will garlic dip last?

This dip should keep well in a covered container for up to 3 days in the refrigerator.

What to serve with this dip?

This is a very versatile dip. Veggies, crackers, pretzels, bread and chips all work well.

10/10 love this dip! I’ve made it twice since finding it on Friday and it’s become a favorite in my house! It’s amazing to dip veggies, bread, chips you name it in! The only things I’ve changed slightly are a few spices. I completely omitted the cilantro and oregano because we don’t care for those items and instead added green onion, fresh dill, and onion powder.

    SO GOOD.
