You may be wondering why this is called Million Dollar Dip. It is also sometimes referred to as Neiman Marcus Dip.

It originally appeared in a cookbook years ago authored by a chef who was the Director of Food Services at Neiman Marcus. The rumor is people thought it tasted like a million bucks and thus the modern day name.

The original recipe uses all mayo as the creamy element in this dip, but I prefer to add something tangy to help offset some of the mayo taste in dips so I used a combination of sour cream and mayonnaise.

I also amped up the flavor a slight bit with a few easy additions. What can I say, I like to spice things up when it comes to food. Don’t worry though, it’s not spicy hot.

Recipe Tips and Tricks

The Almonds

For more depth of flavor, you can toast the almonds before adding them into the dip.

If you are concerned about a nut allergy or just prefer things without nuts, feel free to leave the almonds out. The dip will still be great without them.

The Cheese

I highly recommend grading your own cheese for this recipe instead of using pre-shredded bagged cheese.
