Cherry Sauce

  • 3 cups fresh cherries, pitted
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 4 1/2 tbsp sugar

  • 1 8 oz block of cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp cherry liquid from cherry sauce

Cherry Sauce

  1. Add cherries, water, sugar and lemon juice to a sauce pan.

  2. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Cook for about 5 minutes or until the cherries are soft.

  3. Remove from heat and strain through a fine mesh strainer. Use a spoon to push the cherries to get more of the juice out.

  4. Reserve 2 tbsp of the liquid for the dip.

  5. Add the cherries to a food processor or blender and puree (leaving small chunks of cherries).

  1. Whip heavy cream and the 2 tbsp reserved cherry sauce liquid until soft peaks form. Set aside.

  2. Add cream cheese to a bowl and using a mixer, beat until creamy.

  3. Add vanilla.

  4. Add in the powdered sugar a little at a time and mix until incorporated.

  5. Gently fold in whipped cream and roughly 3/4 of the cherry puree.

  6. Chill dip and reserved cherry puree at least an hour or until ready to serve.

  7. Top with remaining cherry puree prior to serving.
