About Me

darlene-photo800

Hi, I’m Darlene and I’m so glad that you stopped by my blog. Feel free to say hi, I love hearing from my readers.

This blog is a creative expression of several of my talents and skills. I do the recipe development, writing, and photography, but also do most of the technical support and design of the site as well.

Everyone has a story and so here’s mine about how this blog was born…

It all started years ago with a dip that I tasted at a party. Back then, I was a total newbie to cooking, but this recipe was super yummy and seemed simple enough for even me to make . For quite a while, that was the only dish that I made for other people and was a staple anytime I needed an appetizer to take somewhere.

I then started to branch out and my dip recipe collection grew from one, to two, to three, and is still growing. My friends now call me the “dip queen” and expect me to make at least one (usually more) of these yummy creations for any event that I host or attend.

This however, is not my first website adventure.  I actually built and ran my first website 20 years ago. Yikes, that was a long time ago! That was back in the day of early websites with static html pages and horrible flashing graphics that we all thought were so cool 🙂 Needless to say, a lot has changed since then!

My hobbies include food, photography, and travel.

My husband and I are foodies by heart and enjoy a wide variety of food and drinks, love trying local restaurants, and host lots of parties and cook outs.

I have a full time career in Corporate America working in software technology and love my day job.  My husband and I live in Richmond, Virginia with Cajun, our Golden Retriever, who is our big 4 legged baby (think 70 pound snugly teddy bear) 🙂

I hope you enjoy all the dips!

  1. I’m so glad I found your blog. We’re having a Superbowl party at my son’s house tomorrow and, always the “Procrastinator Family”, I’m just now digging up recipes for everyone to pick and choose. Your’s is one of the most fun food blogs I’ve seen. I’m dealing with radiation treatments and my appetite has gotten very weird. Dips are perfect for the way I’m eating now (as if I haven’t always loved anything I could dip something into…veggies, cake, crackers, fingers, etc.).

I rarely read the “About Me” pages of blogs because, frankly, I’m not there to make friends, I’m there to make food! For some reason I was drawn to yours and was pleasantly surprised to see that we’re practically neighbors. My doctors are mostly at VCU so I’m in Richmond a lot. I’ve always loved it up there. I’m originally from Smithfield, “the Ham Capital of the World” and now live in Wakefield, the so called “Peanut Capital of the World”. Oddly, there’re some great hams made in Wakefield and an awful lot of peanut fields in Smithfield, as is true of all the other towns and counties in Virginia.

So, “Hi”, from nearly a neighbor. I love your blog and wish you the best of luck with it. I’ve always said I was going to start one but, alas, I say I’m going to do a lot of things that never get done. Keep it up because one thing I will most certainly do is try out a lot of your beautiful recipes!
